This is for [ profile] stripes13  pretty much, since I don't think anyone else cares about my crack crossover thing that I will probably never actually write.  That's okay!  I just like to talk about things.  Anyway, today I want to talk about The Amber Spyglass.  I had a very strange and not altogether good day for many reasons, but one of those reasons was that I read the end of The Amber Spyglass just before going to class where I knew I would be expected to speak articulately about it (yes, I have a class about His Dark Materials--it's about Paradise Lost and Philip Pullman and other "visions and revisions of the Fall" which is perfect for me because I love Paradise Lost and His Dark Materials).  Anyway, er, got a bit off track there.  So as some of you may recall, I once wrote a post about how The Amber Spyglass makes me cry.  This morning I was actually holding it together pretty well and I thought I might make it through--but alas, I soon found myself hunched over my kitchen table, sobbing and wiping away tears with a napkin.  And hoping that none of my housemates came in because I didn't want to explain why I was crying.  Also I had to pull myself together before I got to class.

But anyway, the point of this is that I just read the end of His Dark Materials and Book III has a perfect record for making me cry only this time I was applying it to Lee and Kara too.  And I'm about to reproduce the relevant section below, so spoilers for the end of His Dark Materials, obviously )

Bonus: here's something I wrote in my class notes today.  It amuses me, and perhaps it will amuse you too.  Lyra vs. Will and doing what they're told--if Lyra trusts you, she'll do anything for you, jump a raider back to Caprica or assassinate her CO, but Will will (ha) only ever follow himself.  Or Lyra.  No one else.  He'll mutiny at inappropriate times but he'll always have her back.  (okay, I didn't write that last sentence but I was totally thinking it)

So I'm re-reading His Dark Materials for the millionth time, and I started mentally casting the BSG peeps in the Pullman roles.  Here's what I've got so far:

Lyra = Kara (obviously)
Will = Lee (the stuff with his mom is just too appropriate)
Roger = Helo (*sniff* poor Helo)
Lord Asriel = Lord Adama
Mrs. Coulter = Admiral Cain, or possibly Number Six.  She's a bit tricky.

And here's where I run into trouble.  I mean, Iorek is Iorek.  I just can't imagine any of the BSG characters as bears.  Perhaps Laura Roslin as Serafina?  Should she be Mary Malone?  Maybe Athena is Serafina and Laura is Mary.  And what about Lee Scoresby?  Or am I just crazy?

Now, Buffy meme!  I skipped a couple days so I'm gonna do two.

Well, the reveal has gone up at [ profile] bsg_remix .  I half-heartedly tried to guess who wrote what, and was right about two of them, which is one more than last year!  Anyway, here's the story I wrote as a pinch-hitter.  It's crack, in case you can't tell from the title and, well, everything else about it.

Title: What Happens in the Conference Room
Characters: Kara, Cottle, Lee, Sam, Dee, Adama, Roslin, Billy, Tyrol, Helo, Sharon, Gaeta, Gaius
Pairings: none
Rating: PG-13
Title, Author and URL of original story: The Admiral's Support Group for Dysfunctional Families and Insubordinate Officers by [ profile] da_angel729
Beta: Thank you, [ profile] ivanolix!
Author Notes: Like the original fic, this story is set in some wholly indefinable period of time in which all of these characters are alive, and some of them are married. Just go with it.

The Admiral's Support Group for Dysfunctional Families and Insubordinate Officers was the place to be.

OMG guys, this is pretty much the first fic (ficlets don't count) that I've posted since last summer!  I haven't gone that long without posting fic since I signed on for this lj thing.
shah_of_blah: (bees!)
Um. I seem to have written crack!fic. BSG crack!fic. While I was supposed to be writing a research paper.  Oops?

This fic might be offensive to some people.  I don't want to say too much, but, well, if you're bothered by religion being used in crackfic, you might not want to read this.  If Ron Moore hadn't wanted me to think things like this, he shouldn't have made that damn Last Supper promo pic.

Anyway. You have been warned.  Onwards!

Title: Revelations, Book Of
Disclaimer 1: I don't own them.
Disclaimer 2: I mean no offense or disrespect.
Spoilers: Massive spoilers for Revelations. Just about everything that could be spoiled.
Rating: PG-13 for frakking (the word and the deed). Nothing explicit.
Note: This is not betaed. All mistakes are mine.
Characters/Pairings: Ensemble, hints at Adama/Roslin and gratuitous Kara/Lee. But mostly gen.
Summary: The Colonial Fleet found Earth. And it sucked.

So I've been busy with real life stuff, and before all that happened I'd begun quite a few fannish endeavors.  I came back and...was slightly less interested in some of them.  Decided to kick this thing out of the nest because it doesn't make sense anyway, so I'm giving up on trying to make it better.  Also giving up on adding pictures because I'm too lazy for that and I don't know how to put the text in the pictures anyway, so whatever.

This was inspired ages ago by [ profile] latteaddict's Unfinished Business Revamped.

This thing that I wrote is stranger and not nearly as funny, and also lacking pictures.  It's sort of my version of Home, except not really.  The idea was for it to be my version of Home, but it sort of mutated.

I've been doing other things...which I shall briefly summarize should anyone be interested:
