Three memes snagged from [ profile] daybreak777 :

The book I am reading: Well, I just finished various, next on my list is Ransom by David Malouf.  Also Holy Land: A Suburban Memoir by I-forget-whom.

The book I am writing: thesis?  Which is a collection of short stories.  Currently titled "Stone Shoulders and Wax Wings," though I'm not set on the word "stone."  I also need to write my remix fic!  Haven't actually started yet.  But I picked the story to remix, so that's something.

Top Five Books I love most:

This is excruciatingly difficult, you know?

1.) Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie
2.) Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
3.) His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman (I'm cheating and counting these as one)
4.) Stranger Things Happen by Kelly Link
5.) Flight by Sherman Alexie

The last book I received as a gift: The Orange Eats Creeps.  I'm really excited to read it.

The last book I gave as a gift: Lavinia by Ursula K. LeGuin

The nearest book: Work Life by Paul Kane (poetry).  I read it last weekend.

The DVDs I am watching: Well I mean...I'm not watching any right now.  The last DVD I watched was Aziz Ansari's "Intimate Moments from a Sensual Evening."  But it might be more accurate to say that I am watching Farscape Season 3 (Disc 6) because that is ongoing.  And I am planning to watch it tomorrow.

The DVDs I am waiting for: I just moved Winter's Bone up to the top of my father's Netflix Queue so I can watch it when I visit.

Top Four DVD (movies) I love most:

1.) Seven Samurai
2.) The Host (AMAZING Korean film that nobody has ever heard of)
3.) Shaun of the Dead
4.) Waitress

The last DVD I received as a gift: I got the fifth season of Doctor Who and the complete series of Farscape for Christmas!

The last DVD I gave as a gift: The fourth season of Doctor Who.  Yup, it was a very sci-fi Christmas in my house.

The nearest DVD: BSG 4.5.

And lastly, a fic meme!

If you had to delete all but five of your stories, which five would you keep and why? (Or ten if you prolific)

The Breath Between: I worked frakking hard on this one.  For a long frakking time.  It's my longest completed bsg fic to date, and I'm quite proud of it, so yeah, I'd keep it!

Portraits: My ode to Kara Thrace.  I feel like this piece says more than the majority of my other fics.  And it's got mythology!  I could never throw this one away, not when it's all about how awesome my girl is.

The Disappearing Ground: Well.  Yeah.  This one isn't perfect (none of them are, obviously, but there's one huge glaring flaw in this one that I long to fix every time I reread it).  Still, I wrote it because I really needed to, and I'm very attached to it.  The last two lines might be the best thing I've ever written.

Say Anything At All: Five times Kara said something she didn't mean to say (but not necessarily something she didn't mean).  This is just my big ol' gen Kara fic that's actually a bit shippy, but you know.  From childhood to 4.5.  It was a lot of fun to write, and yeah, I'm proud of it.

Five Times Kara Told Someone She Missed Them: Like Portraits, I think of this story as trying to say something, which might be a bit surprising given the brevity and the format.  Five short scenes that illustrate Kara's evolution over the years through the way she relates to others.
