Day 30/30
Day 30. Saddest character death
Rita.
No competition. There never was. Yes, I was sad when Tara died, when Wash died, when Derek died, etc. etc. I actually was not sad when Kara died because I knew she was coming back. In retrospect, I'm angry but still not sad. No, I knew all along that I was going to say Rita for this category.
I thought about posting a picture, but looking at them made me too sad. I think you all remember anyway. Instead, I'll give you this:

radio_silent and I finally settled on a name for our upcoming blog. I'll let you know when it's all set up. I think I may write an essay about the women of Dexter and how much I love them. Because oh, I do! Deb and Maria and Rita, I wish you were real so I could be friends with you all! I even kind of almost love Lilah a little bit. In an oh my god you terrify me kind of way. But she's interesting. They all are. Damn, I love this show.

I still can't quite believe it. I was just finally starting to relax, to think that maybe things would be okay when he picked up her phone. Oh my god. So upsetting. It's not the first time this show has killed a beloved character (and I actually stopped rewatching season two just before Doakes's death because I didn't want to see it, much like I always stop Seeing Red a few minutes before the end) but Rita was different. Doakes was a cop. He knew the risks. He knew what he was doing. Rita was not a part of that world. And she had kids. Gods. I'm actually terrified of next season. It might crush me. I'm sure there will be tears.
