Awesome Women: Part the Second

Continuing with the "30 Days of Awesome Women" list that I began yesterday, here are 11-20.  You can read the first part here.

Fandoms include: Doctor Who, The Simpsons, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Alien, His Dark Materials, The Hunger Games, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Poisonwood Bible, Howl's Moving Castle, Discworld, Pushing Daisies, Arrested Development, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dexter, Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Farscape, Lost, Angel, and Bionic Woman.

11. Favorite female character in a children's show

Amy Pond.  I think Doctor Who counts as a children's show...

Lisa Simpson.

12. Favorite female character in a movie
This question is hard and I do not like it.  But I will answer anyway.

Shu Lien from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.  I saw this movie nine times in the theater.  It sparked one of my first major fangirl obsessions: Michelle Yeoh.  I LOVE SHU LIEN SHE IS FUCKING AWESOME.  VIDEO EVIDENCE:

ELLEN RIPLEY IS PRETTY COOL TOO. I JUST WATCHED HER MOVIES.  BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN THE FOURTH ONE YET.

13. Favorite female character in a book
SO FRICKING OPEN-ENDED.

Lyra Silvertongue (His Dark Materials).

(hello Iorek)

Arya Stark (ASOIAF).  I cannot wait for her to be a TV character too!

I don't know who made that pic but I think it's cool.

Granny Weatherwax (Discworld).

(she's the one on the left) (this is from a really awesome adaptation of the book)

Not pictured either because they don't have a canon image or because I don't like the image:
Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games)
Adah Price (Poisonwood Bible)
Sophie Hatter (Howl's Moving Castle)

14. Favorite older female character
From the last question, both Sophie and Granny Weatherwax fit this category!  Erm, but anyway, back to TV...

Lucille Bluth.
Photobucket

Lily and Vivian Charles.  Actually, just Lily.  I'm not sure what that says about what I want in an older woman.

15. Favorite female character growth arc

Willow Rosenberg!  Observe:

Debra Morgan.  Okay, Google Images is failing me and I don't know where to find Dexter screencaps, so no picture here.  Just remember Deb in the pilot, stuck in Vice and begging her older brother for help.  As Dexter has become less and less useful to Miami Metro, so has Debra become a million times more until she's pretty much the best detective in the department.

16. Favorite mother character
Opposite ends of the spectrum here:

Rita Bennett-Morgan-whatever-her-maiden-name-was.

Sarah Connor (TV).  I have now seen her film-incarnation as well, and she's alright but I really like T:SCC's Sarah better.

17. Favorite warrior female character
Hahaha SO MANY.

18. Favorite non-warrior female character

Tara Maclay, oh how I loved thee.

True story: I spent a long time in front of a mirror trying to get my hair to do that.

Rita Bennett-Morgan.

Sun Kwon (one of the few Lost characters I always liked).

19. Favorite non-human female character

Cameron

I still don't know what the frak she was, but Head!Six was pretty awesome.

20. Favorite female antagonist

Lilah Morgan

Glorificus

Sarah Corvus.  So this show was pretty awful and quite deserving of cancellation, BUT it was still an excuse for Katee to be awesome.  Like this:

Alright folks, I'll see you tomorrow with the third and final part!

These are all awesome, although I am not too familiar with some of them. I am a huge fan of the original Terminator II Sarah Connors - I about flipped when I saw Linda Hamilton all buffed out. O_O

I would also add The Bride from Kill Bill to the list of Warrior women. She kicks ass!

I can't wait to see tomorrow!

Yeah, I really liked Sarah Connor in Terminator II--still prefer T:SCC though. Have you seen it?

And the Bride definitely does kick ass!

I have seen a few episodes of the tv series and thinks that version of Sarah Connor is more of a sympathetic character than the one in the films. I'm just kinda in love with Linda Hamilton's badass transformation from T1 to T2 - it completely blew me away!

Soooooo much awesome. And a perfect ending picture. UNF AND AWESOME.

THAT PICTURE OMG. Bionic Woman may have been worth it just for that scene.

These last two posts are very cool! There's quite a few characters I'm not familiar with but a lot we both enjoy. Kara being the pinnacle of awesomeness, of course! Aeryn Sun would be my close second. I've always enjoyed Dana Scully and Veronica Mars (despite her issues). I tried to get into Doctor Who but gave up when David Tennant did. Donna was probably my favourite companion but I also liked Martha Jones and River Song in that episode with the crazy library. The Terminator gals were always fierce - Sarah & Cameron, but I can't say I ever felt interest or sympathy for Riley and Jesse. I think the moment I suspect a character of manipulation and self interest my hackles rise, lol. Sara Corvus - how awesome is Katee? Attitude to spare!

Thanks for sharing the pretty.

Oh, and I forgot to say I love Lucille Bluth too! I guess that might sound weird considering I just said that I can't stand manipulation and self interest but the difference is Lucille is unapologetically so and isn't whitewashed to appear as if she's not. If you're going to be a bitch, own it. Lucille definitely owns it!

Kara is still the awesomest one in my world. Aeryn is still new to me, but she's definitely working her way up there.

If you liked River Song in her season 4 episodes, you'd probably like her season 5 episodes too--in my opinion, she gets infinitely more amazing!

Oh, I absolutely know what you mean! I can forgive a character for a lot of things if they are upfront and open about it.

I love that Lisa Simpson is on this list!:D

Of course! We can't forget the awesome that is Lisa. :)

There are too many fabulous women on this list for me to comment on all of them individually, otherwise 1) this comment would spill over into multiple boxes and 2) I might never catch up on anything else on LJ. I'll just say that I agree with many, many of your choices.

Thanks Rose! I'm glad you agree. :)
