Tis the (secular) season...

shah_of_blahWell, lots of people are making these wish list things. I've never done this before, but figured I'd give it a shot.
Step One:
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Boomer/Gaeta icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for ____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [Note: Your home address is not required!]
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ.
Step Two:
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Mine are all fandom-related. Shocker, huh? I seem to have a lot of vid requests, probably because I can't vid (and don't really want to) but somehow can't stop thinking about these songs in BSG terms. Unfortunately I have somewhat unusual taste, and I'd be rather surprised if any of my vidding friends actually knew these songs. But it's worth a try! If anyone is interested, I can link you to lyrics at the very least.
Of the vid variety:
1. I would love a video to "Ship Caught in the Bay" by the Frames. I really think this is a Kara + Leoben video.
2. Kara/Lee vid to "Sunset Song" by Richard Thompson. It's totally all about the times she leaves him even though she loves him so much! I <3 this song.
3. "Broken" by Belly. Lee thinking about Kara.
4. "Dilate" by Ani DiFranco (Kara vid). Actually, I’d like just about any Kara vid to Ani DiFranco.
5. Anything Magnetic Fields. These would probably be more cracktastic, but highly amusing. To me anyway. There's "A Chicken With Its Head Cut Off" (Lee, sort of), "How Fucking Romantic" (any of Kara's men), "(Crazy For You But) Not That Crazy", or even crackier "Queen of the Savages" (Kara of course).

7. "Separated" by Eliza Gilkyson would be a really cool Kara vid, although it's not quite the style I'd expect for her, I think it could be really good. But I couldn't do it, no way, even if I knew how.
Of the fic variety:
8. This crossover fic involving Leoben (BSG) and Sarah Corvus (Bionic Woman): it was all daybreak's idea.
I feel strongly that this fic ought to be written. I’d rather someone else wrote it though, mostly since I am lazy and don’t really want to re-watch BW. Besides, I don't think I'd be very good at Leoben.
9. I am having trouble coming up with more wishes. Just write Kara/Lee fic, people, and I will be happy! We are almost through this hiatus. As I am typing this, we are just a few minutes away from December, which means just a month and a bit until new episodes! Stay strong, people!
10. Um. Happiness? ETA: Kara being awesome. Fic, vids, meta, recs, whatever. Let's just celebrate my girl (our girl)!
If anyone would like to request a fic, I would be delighted to write it/them! Maybe. I would try, anyway.
My character/pairing specialties: Kara. And Kara/Lee. And I am a diehard Wash/Zoe fan! And I ship just about every canon ship in BtVS.

i didn't know that. it's a little bit funny...anyway i feel like you do write happy stuff, but you make characters earn their happiness (i'm thinking of "smile" here) and you don't just hand it out like free candy...or whatever people hand out.
