half of what i say is meaningless

I have been sans internet (or phone or cable, but who cares about those) in my house since we got walloped by a big storm on Sunday.  We had no power for two days too.  I keep reminding myself that I have spent significant periods of time without such silly trifles as computers before.  And yet, I am still doing that thing where I constantly refresh to see if the connection has been magically restored in the last ten minutes...

Anyway, the point of this post is that I have a ton of things to reply to and hopefully I will remember once I have time.  I kind of feel like I'm in Peru again, except without all the awesome stuff.  But I am back to my tried and true method of going to an internet cafe before/after work and opening a ton of tabs to read later.  So, I have been reading things!  And I will try to remember what they are so that I can leave comments once I have wireless again.

In other news, I have been writing some original fic and I have tentatively returned to my long-neglected plotfic.  Looking over my outline yesterday, I realized just how close I was to finishing Part 3 (out of 7).  Honestly, being internet-deprived is very good for my productivity, as I am forced to entertain myself without all those pesky distractions.  But that will not stop me from complaining!  Or hoping that tonight will be the night it comes back.

ETA: Thursday night, and we have a signal!  I almost did a little dance when I found out, but managed to restrain myself.

1) A question regarding my plotfic...

Who was CAG on Galactica in Resurrection Ship after Lee and Kara were sent away?  The way I see it, there are 3 possibilities:
-Birch, even though he did a terrible job the first time
-Helo even though I'm not sure anyone would trust him
-some unknown pilot from the Pegasus (maybe Showboat?)

Opinions?

2) Can somebody indulge my morbid curiosity and tell me what is going on in this fandom?  I've heard references to some sort of drama/controversy and have no idea what they're talking about.

I was working on this plot fic, and since it has plot it also has characters who are neither Lee nor Kara.  So I found myself writing Colonel Fisk.  Now, I couldn't remember his first name, and did not have access to the wiki at the time, so...I gave him a new name.  Many hours later, I was quite disappointed to find that he does have a name in canon.  Jack.  The thing is, I'd become quite attached to my name for him.  I think it's very fitting.

What say you, flist?  Can I discard canon this once?  Can anyone take the scene seriously if I call him Jebediah Fisk?
