BSG 4.15: No Exit

shah_of_blahWell now, I took some rather copious notes during every ad break while I let the next part load, so now I'm going to try to make it presentable. There was a lot of "Holy shit!" and "WTF!"
Opening sequence is back and better than ever!
Ad break #1:
WTF. WTF, Ellen. And Sam, would that everything include a certain not-dead Viper pilot? Also, Kara, I know you want to support Sam through this, which is great because you do care about him and he is a good guy, husband or not, but please. This does not mean you have to get back together with him. Where the frak is Lee? Probably off fixing the government or something silly like that.
Ad break #2:
WTF. Eight?! Ok, wait, wait. Let me try to get this semi-straight, or at least not as twisty. So the 13th Tribe invented resurrection, came to Earth... The Five re-invented it, saved themselves, went back to the Colonies and tried to stop the war but they failed. There are still holes. There's still a time gap between the destruction of Earth and the creation of the Cylons on the Colonies--was this 1950 years (approximately) spent in transit? And then...how did they go from knowing everything to knowing nothing? And their lives...did they have them? Shouldn't Tigh have been younger in the Earth flashbacks? And ok, so Ellen remembers things now that she's resurrected, but she didn't know when she was "human," right? Oh dear.
Oh and I'm glad we got to see Lee and Laura in the aftermath of the Quorum massacre. Although I'm also feeling, well, Laura you treated them like shit! Up until they died, you've acted like the Quorum were just a bunch of pesky little children insisting that you do things the democratic way.
Ad break #3:
Shit shit shit! Number 7...nice one, RDM, trying to convince us that whole 1-2-3-4-5-6-8 thing was on purpose. As if you knew what you were doing all the way back in season one. Yeah, right. Anyway. It is interesting, though... But I don't want another "OMG WHO'S THE FINAL CYLON!" thing.
Hello John Hodgman! You're pretty well suited for this role (and Kara so wants to smack you) but I'm a little distracted because, hello, John Hodgman. Um. And hey, aphasia! I know what that is! I understood some of the techno-medical stuff! How exciting. Also, um, Kara! I know you're determined to save Sam and I get it, I get that you need to save this one, but he's begging you! Oh man. This show.
(not an ad break, a freak-out break):
7 = DANIEL. Kara looks like that name means something. Wouldn't it be cool if her dad's name was Daniel?
Ad break #4:
"Daniel was an artist." Guys, I am freaking the fuck out here.
I've been meaning to say for the past few ad breaks: I seriously love Cavil. I mean, he's terrible--he's looking like the mind behind the Holocaust, for one thing. And he's super skeezy. But he's so hilarious and bitter and such a great angry old man. I love it! He wants to be perfect, wants to be a machine ("something sturdier? Like, say, metal?") and not only does he have human limitations, but he's also old. I'd be pissed too if I were him. But I'm also into this Boomer thing. Ellen can say that she gave Boomer the gift of emotions, of free will, and all that, but Boomer seriously got the worst deal in the universe. She's got a frakking right to be angry, even if Ellen didn't make her a sleeper agent.
Oh yeah, and how about Sam screaming after Kara? Holy shit.
Ok, now it's over:
Yay Boomer! I want a redemption arc for her.
Wow, Ishay, that was a little insensitive, don't you think?
Godsdamnit, I need me some K/L.
Yeah, that was intense and pretty damn great, I have to say. But seriously, Kara...Lee...the writers are just toying with our hearts.
Oh yeah, and remember that Kara Celebration Week is coming up! Last week of February.

She's the only sleeper agent we've ever heard of. Why did she have to be programmed with human memories when plenty of Cylons have been very successful at infiltrating the human fleet just by pretending? I think it would make some very interesting irony if Cavil's the one who was somehow responsible for the idea of using that tactic.

That's a good point. If Athena could fool Helo, Boomer probably could have fooled everybody without being a sleeper. Intriguing!

I don't know...part of me wants them to get back together, but another part of me worries that that would be too neat. Also, I was never a fan of Cally/Chief, but if Boomer and Chief got back together, it might feel like the show was pretending Cally/Chief never happened. But it did and I'm all kinds of conflicted.
But Chief has been so consistently great, and he continued to be awesome in this episode. "You mean like roommates?" Ahahaha.

Ishay hasn't been very nice lately, her bedside manner has gone down the tube and apparently Cottle's has improved. She was so understanding towards Kara. It was weird. The scene between Lee and Roslin gave me a nice flashback of the early days of President Roslin and Captain Apollo.
I agree, I need some Lee/Kara.
