BSG 4.17 Someone to Watch Over Me

What is with SciFi not posting the episodes? Really not cool.
*preliminary flail* AHHHHHHHHHHH! I am so excited. This is ridiculous.
Ad break #1:
I like the prize being the last tube of [brand name] toothpaste left in the universe. Though if they want toothpaste, they should just take some of Adama's since we all know he's not rationing. I like to see some effects of the mutiny, finally. No more ECOs or long showers. Anyway, we've got piano (playing the same Philip Glass from her apartment, right?), Kara almost sleepwalking through life, and doing shot after shot and playing with fire. *squishes Kara*
Ad break #2:
Aw, Helo's still Kara's BFF. And Hera's cute. Anyway, we have a confirmed name now: Dreilide Thrace. And apparently the piano guy isn't playing her dad's music just yet.
I liked the sickbay scene too, with Cottle basically kicking the Cylons out and then trying to, in his Cottle way, kind of comfort Kara. And then she was crying and I am just going to be a puddle of inarticulate mush this week. I don't know if I can keep up the semi-live blogging. Maybe I'll give up at some point because I am just, yeah, going crazy.
Ad break #3 (maybe I should say right now that I'm watching sans ads, so I'm kinda guessing on these):
Cue the childfic. Little Kara running after her daddy's car! Puddle of inarticulate mush, I told you.
Also, Chief, your imaginary child is just that...imaginary! But you know who is real, even if he's not biologically related to you? Nicky!
Freak out break:
I know I'm not the only one who thinks he *is* Kara's dad, even if he's not Daniel. Also, we've yet to see anyone other than Kara interact with him.
Oh yeah, and Chief--I have a very bad feeling about whatever you're doing.
36 minutes in, I'm calling this an ad break:
Kara baby, that was so sweet with your imaginary father! But this is the problem with Head!people. They leave.
My response to the Helo/Boomer: no no NO. Why must this happen to the only functional relationship? But was the tied-up Eight Athena or just another Eight? And if she was Athena, then why did Boomer take Hera? But it is interesting (if awful) that Helo can't tell Boomer and Athena apart. It makes sense, since, you know, it was Boomer he fell in love with in the first place. Oh yeah, and what's in that heavy crate that Chief and Boomer are stowing on the Raptor...
When Tigh said "his eyes were open" was he talking about Liam or Sam? Is this going to be ridiculously cracktastic?
Ok, it's over now:
OH HELL NO. Boomer, you were supposed to redeem yourself, not steal a child! I'm glad, at least, that Chief didn't intentionally take Hera. But what did he think was in the box?
Also...I thought we were going to get some Kara-related answers. But her dad taught her Sam's song? That's...I don't know. I'm glad that he was imaginary, as it makes more sense for Kara to open up to her Head!Dad, but this whole thing is freaking me out. I still think something's going to happen when she flies the magical shiny Viper. Especially since her creepy dream brought her to the flight deck.
And I also think Lee needs to come visit HIS FRIEND who is falling apart. Argh.
Her dad taught her The Song. I don't get it, but this kind of lends credence to the Daniel thing, Dreilide or no. Actually, I forgot why Cavil boxed Daniel. That's probably important.
Oh yeah, and did Laura DIE?! I mean, I wasn't expecting that to happen untli the last episode. Though I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it happening now (sorry Laura, but you've been dying since Day One).
I liked this episode, and it was quite fitting for this week. But still. THIS IS MAKING ME CRAZY. The problem with BSG is that I watch the episode in the morning, and then I spend the rest of the day thinking about it. And I am unable to concentrate on anything else.
I haven't watched Dollhouse yet, and I don't know when I'm going to. Probably won't be posting about it this week, as I have Things To Do. Also now I actually want to rewatch 'Someone to Watch Over Me,' which is a good sign for the episode but not for me and my Things To Do.
ETA: HOLY SHIT. I just looked latteaddict's caps, and the Dreilide Thrace recording says "LIVE AT THE [something...Helice?] OPERA HOUSE."

Date: 2009-03-02 12:39 am (UTC)I can see why people would (and should) blame Helo for not recognizing Boomer as Boomer. But I also think it's a really interesting quandary, and one that I'd given up on the show addressing. How different are Boomer and Athena, and where does Helo fit into the equation, given that he fell in love with Boomer and got together with Athena because he thought she *was* Boomer. It's an interesting reversal, now, that he frakked Boomer because he thought she was Athena.
That's too bad that you were disappointed. I know I'd expected more answers, but ultimately I'm satisfied with this episode. I wonder if the piano player really was a head person, or just your run-of-the-mill imaginary father.
