Dollhouse: Epitaph Two

Part 1
I feel like a bad fan, but I don't think Felicia Day is that great of an actress. And I don't much care for this dude either.
Hello Evil Hair and fat dude with scantily clad lackey.
Hi Paul! That guy next to him has the largest neck I have ever seen.
Aw, Topher. I love Topher in genius mode. It was Epitaph One that made me fangirl him in the first place, you know.
Part 2
I'm surprised Echo and Adelle are so civil. Last we saw, Echo was pointing a gun at her.
"What? I was being inspiration!" Aww. Tahmoh, you're so cute.
Did she say "you're so corny" or "you're so horny?" I feel like this makes a difference.
WTF VICTOR/TONY.
Part 3
Mag, that's her name. Now I just need to work out his, instead of just calling him "other dude."
Oh hi Maurissa. Nice to see you.
Priya/Tony, can't we all just hug?
Damn Echo/Paul, don't make me start to like/ship you now, of all times.
I'm not sure I understand how this situation benefited Rossum at all. Like, really. Yay apocalypse? Then again, one of their founders is in the attic and the other went BATSHIT.
Part 4
OH SHIT.
See, I knew it. I knew that the moment I actually started to care about their relationship BAM! tragedy strikes.
Alpha! What what what?!
Ha. "Victor, why would someone do something so horrible to your face?" "Psycho."
"Because we're not freakshows. Well, I am. And Echo. And Topher, he's a little...But Adelle! She's a class act." Can always count on Alpha to bring the smiles in a tense room.
"I'm all alone; I'm always alone." Did you have to say that, Echo? Because I can't take you seriously when you do that. It reminds me of when Gaeta begged Helo not to let them take his leg, and I laughed at something that was not supposed to be funny.
Part 5
Aww, father/son bonding over burning things. Too cute.
Is Other Dude's name Zone? What an odd name. But he was a landscape architect! Oh, that's sweet. Now I might have to like him too. You know, as he walks offscreen. Damn, I have bad timing.
Gosh Joss, can't you let your heroine be happy as well as victorious for once?
I knew Alpha left her something on the chair! Oh man, is she gonna upload Paul into herself? Cause that's kinda weird but also kind of awesome. And yes, there you are Paul! Could've done without the soft-light inside-Echo's-head bit, but that's ok. Although now I am wondering just how many "Paul!Echo touches herself" smutfics are gonna be written.
Well now, I liked that. It wasn't a heart-thumping adrenaline ride, but it was very sweet and a lovely farewell to all of the characters. And oh Topher, I knew that was coming but I still almost teared up at your little "Huh."
But now I'm wondering, did they know they were going to be canceled when they made Epitaph Two? Because if not, how would they have done a third season? Sure there's some room for fill-in-the-blanks, but in general they wrapped the whole thing up pretty well. I'm not sure I would've wanted a third season if they couldn't have sustained the powerhouse that was season two. I just wish season one had been anywhere near as top-notch. And hey, they managed to make me like pretty much everyone except Adelle, and I never had a rational reason to dislike her in the first place.
Whoa, the song that just came up on shuffle (Accidental Deth) is eerily fitting. First lines:
You're obsessed with finding a new brain
But what you need is a new body

Date: 2010-02-01 06:35 am (UTC)What did you think of Echo's breakdown in front of Priya? I thought that was AMAZING acting by ED, and I'm not normally a fan!
I liked how it started, and did think that it was a definite step up for her. But the "I'm so alone" bit just totally threw me out of the scene. Too much melodrama.
But I'm really glad that she uploaded Paul! I love Joss and all, but I'm getting tired of his pathological need to deprive the heroines of happy relationships. It's about time one of them didn't end up alone.
And yay little T! So cute.

Date: 2010-02-01 03:05 am (UTC)You didn't like the Tiny Messiah line? Hee! I liked Zone's mocking. It was sort of a ridiculous situation. A small imprinted child lead them to the promised land . . .
Did she say "you're so corny" or "you're so horny?" I feel like this makes a difference.
HEE! You totally need to liveblog more shows. That I watch. Or mebbe watch more shows that I watch? Something like that. Or maybe I need to watch what you're watching.

This all spiralled out of everyone's control. The message I always get is: humans do NOT touch technology. You can't handle the tech! And it never seems we can.
Oh hi Maurissa. Nice to see you.
I like that she wrote herself a cool role. Every writer should try and do that. Not a cheesy cameo, either. But cool and kickass. And a fangirl. :-)
I just wish season one had been anywhere near as top-notch.
I have a theory that this show got lots better once they knew they were cancelled. They just turned it up a notch. If there was going to be a third season I have a feeling that Echo would still be going out on engagements right now. I didn't want the show cancelled but I do think in a strange way cancellation brought out the show's best here.

Totally. And I loved that "Mercy" bit. Badass.

I think I agree. I'm told that they found out about the cancellation just a couple eps shy of the end, but they must have been preparing for it. They actually had an end game and they didn't waste any time.

Ha! This was my first liveblog in ages! I haven't felt compelled to liveblog Chuck (it would just consist of me grinning like an idiot, pretty much). But I'm sure I'll manage it for Lost (wow, is that this Tuesday? Time flies).

Date: 2010-02-01 06:01 pm (UTC)Seeing Paul in Echo was a bit creepy. Topher was my favorite and I hated to see him die especially when clarity hit him. He saw the pictures of those "we remember" wall and boom. I suppose it had to be that way, he came up with the tech to build dolls and he was the one to destroy it all.
I think I actually liked Adelle in this episode. The scene at the dinner table was so dysfunctional but sweet. I was happy to see Tony and Priya work things out in the end.
All in all, I was happy with the ending.

Date: 2010-02-02 03:11 am (UTC)I was happy too, though I agree that a 2-hour finale would've been better. For the most part, I liked the ending, though the execution could've been better. It would've been really nifty if they'd had time to do something like Epitaph One, with flashbacks throughout the episode to give us a better idea of what led up to this point.
