Ties That Bind aka Everybody Needs a Hug

shah_of_blahDon't have much to say about The Ties That Bind.
Guess I had more to say than I thought. Or more words, not so much substance. Unfortunately, I cannot muster a squee for this episode.
In other news, I have started a new fic. Much of it was written in the margins of my notes for various classes. I am clearly an excellent student.
I found Cally's sequences to be very...disturbingly filmed. The crying, the music, the way the camera moved, and especially when she was crawling through the walls. It made me physically uncomfortable. Which is good, I guess.
And Tory! Tory is messed up. Can't say much else, except I was all "Tory, you're being creepy" with Chief, and then "Tory! Yay!" when she was saving Nicky and then "OH SHIT! TORY!" I'm a little bit sad Cally's dead, even though I really don't like her.
I'm happy that Cottle got some screen time. He makes most things better.
Cylon stuff! Cylons killing each other! All very cool. Boomer/Cavil = not cool. But now I'm predicting that Boomer's going to kill Cavil and save the day and become President. Really. I'm putting Boomer on my list of people who desperately need some hugs. Chief too (hey, maybe they can get back together now that they have the Cylon thing in common!)
Lee and the Colonial One stuff. I'm really pleased to see the show finally looking more at the civilians. We see things so from the military perspective that I have constantly been wondering how much the civilians know. Did they know when Kara jumped back to Caprica in the Raider? They must have known something when they were orbiting Kobol. Did they know what they found on Kobol? Did they know about the rescue of the Resistance on Caprica? Do they know about Athena? Do they know their President is sleeping in the Admiral's quarters? Etc. I want to see more with Lee and the civilian perspective.
Oh Kara! I love you and you are so messed up! But not in a Tory way, not quite. I think you and Helo need to have some best-friend time. And I'm also really glad that Gaeta's there...maybe he and Kara can make up and become BFF! United by their shared need for hugs! Anyway, I loved that she was painting. And it was really freakily filmed. I'm not so happy about the "I just want to frak" thing. Although the after-frak scene was really good. But still. No more happy shipper. Not that I don't still have hope (it'll take a lot more than this to crush my belief in the inevitability of Lee and Kara) but was it really necessary for Kara to pull a Buffy-and-Spike ("this isn't real/but I just want to feel")?

Date: 2008-04-20 06:09 am (UTC)it's weird that you mention that because I've heard a lot of people say the same thing. I felt physically ill and a bit naseous by the end. I don't know if it was all that freaky camera work or the awesomeness of Nicki Clyne at the end (all her screaming) but it definitely had an effect on me.
loved how Cally grabbed the cigarette from Cottle's hand. Their scene was pretty great.
All the cylons need a group hug. Just all 12 of them hug and cry and be cylons together. or whatever.
didn't like the whole "let's frak" scene. It felt awkward and forced and all the use of the word "frak" was weird. I LOVED the post scene. Kara was being all spacey and cool and Anders was totally loving her cuz he totally thinks she's a cylon.
Yay for new fic!! I have come to the realization that the fic I'm currently working on will become AU in probably the next episode. I either better write and post fast or just write it anyways and feel strange about it.

I have come to the realization that the fic I'm currently working on will become AU in probably the next episode. I either better write and post fast or just write it anyways and feel strange about it.

Aww. It is not easy to be a Kara/Lee shipper, is it? But you just keep the faith, okay? I know the creators of this show are bigger K/L shippers than we are. :-)

They'd better be...But until THEY FIND EARTH AND KARA AND LEE GET BACK TOGETHER AND EVERYTHING IS SEXY AND AWESOME, there's always fanfiction. And CAPS LOCK, apparently.
