Ad break #1:
-"How many dead chicks are there?"  Hee.  Ellen's return is awfully reminiscent of Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down, down to the way she was sitting.  And I don't like Caprica or Caprica/Tigh (and why was she wandering around Dogsville anyway?) but I feel sorry for her here.
-Chief recognized Boomer!  That's pretty cool, even though I don't want them to immediately jump into bed together (Cally's death seems to have made me more of a Cally/Chief supporter).
-Look, Kara automatically goes to stand next to Lee!  (And Hotdog, but that's irrelevant).
-And why is there a Six working on the walls?  I thought Adama (wisely) said the crews had to be all human.

Ad break #2:
-Head!Six!  Yay!  She's so much more interesting than Caprica.  Also, way to go groupies!  Or that one groupy anyway.
-Haha.  Kate Vernon's pretty cool.  But I'm unmoved by this love story.  What's with all the old people sex?
-Anyway, Tory wants to rebuild the Cylon race but I still don't exactly understand what that means.  The Final Five are Cylons because the 13th Tribe (who were once human) figured out how to resurrect.  So by that logic, the only difference I can see between the Five and the rest of humanity is resurrection...but they are mortal now.
-Sidenote: Ellen's "but she's our child" thing is so funny.  Hahaha Cylon incest.

Ad break #3:
-Gaius has new groupies, and old groupies are smarter.
-Ellen Tigh is being bitchy and manipulative--she's definitely still Ellen!  But Caprica's not falling for that.
-Why does Chief want to leave?  Chief, he's still your son!  But I love him being all "can we save the melodrama for later?"  Ha.
-Oh yeah, and Kara's on the bitchy side too.  "I watch Sam until i just can't stand the fun anymore."  Ouch.  (Also, um, she mentioned a piano and then her parents in passing, and by now I don't think Daniel is her father but I can't help noticing this).

Ad break #4:
-HAHAHA Tigh and the one he really loves!
-Oh yeah, and "Strength comes from within...and guns!"

Confusion break:
-I don't understand Ellen's game plan.  Why does she keep changing her tune?  And why did Tigh say "I'm sorry, that was me, I take it back."  Or whatever the line was.  But most importantly, if we must have all this borderline soap-opera-y melodrama, why does it have to be about TIgh's many loves?  Seriously.  At least season 3 was about characters and relationships that I cared about.

Ok, it's over:
-It's scary when Gaius is right.  Although he soooooo doesn't know how to use that gun.  But Paula sure does.  She's the one who went all badass on those guys in the head way back when, right?
-"I'm going to the head to do something constructive.  A little project I've been working on."  Wtf, we do not need this euphemism for taking a dump.
-Also, Chief, watching her sleep is really not as romantic as you might think.  That's creepy stalker (read: Edward Cullen) territory.
-Oh yeah, and more Tigh/Adama manpain.  Great.

I'm sort of blah about this episode.  Michael Hogan and Kate Vernon are great, but I just do not particularly care.  Lee, I know you're busy trying to fix the Fleet, but couldn't you spare a few minutes for your friend (because she is your friend, no matter what else she is to you) who is drinking by herself and playing with the bullet from her husband's brain?

Jane Espenson, you have disappointed me!  But I have decided that you are good at writing for Gaius.
Kara Celebration Week starts on Monday...I have LOTS of stuff to post.  You are all going to be sick of me and my Kara-love by the end of the week!

The problem with Jane Espenson is she can only write humour. Her foray in Firefly was AWESOME because that show relies on a lot of humour to get by. BSG is all but humourless (especially these last 2 seasons) so of course the only part she's good at is the humorous stuff - the Baltar stuff.

I wasn't keen on the episode she wrote in season 3 either so I was prepared to be disappointed. yeah, it's bad when that happens.

I can't say as I like the soapy stuff regardless - I don't care if it's Lee and Kara or Tigh and Caprica/Ellen. It just doesn't belong in BSG - there needs to be a better balance between the humanist story and the underlying arc and I think often they're just not achieving it well. *sigh* I really hope the end doesn't disappoint.

Yeah, Jane Espenson wrote pretty much exclusively humor on Buffy, and it wasn't until Firefly that I really started to like her writing. I mean, who doesn't love Shindig? But I did really like The Passage, and that one in 4.0 that she wrote (although that one had a lot of Gaius).

Very true. They used to be really good at mixing the personal with the overall story until season 3 (or late season 2). Now it seems like they don't have time for the personal relationships, but then they dump lots of A/R or Tigh/whoever on us, and still ignore everybody else. *is bitter*

I don't think Jane's writing style fits with BSG to be honest. I didn't like The Passage at all, nor did I like Deadlock. I think she has her place as a writer and a serious drama like this isn't it.

It was once an ensemble cast show where you learned a little bit about each character and relationship. Since season 3 they've handpicked which ones get attention and while most shippers love season 3 because it was Lee and Kara (I hated it personally), everyone's devastated now because it's Adama/Roslin/Tigh. (Yes I call it a threesome). It's just bad storywriting in my opinion.

Yup. Paulla will smite with the power of God's love. I don't know if Kat's boyfriend stands a change against that.

Kara week!!! I only have two offerings but there can not be too many Kara offerings in the world. Just not possible. :-)

That was Kat's boyfriend, whatever his name was? (I think of him as Sasha)

Yay! I am in complete agreement, of course.

Someone said it was Kat's boyfriend. I wish I could say I watched enough of The Passage to know for sure but I didn't.

I think of him as Sasha
Hee! I think Sasha was Kat's real name!

Yeah, but I think it suits him better.

Oh, very disappointing episode... I don't see the point of that soap-opera-ish Ellen/Tigh/Caprica melodrama at this point of the story... And I don't care at all about the Gaius storyline (even though some of his lines were funny).

Frankly, I think writers aren't not mixing very well the personal storylines with the overall plot... And I MISS KARA AND LEE TOGETHER!!! (Sorry, I'm really frustrated with how writers are dealing -or NOT DEALING- with their relationship).

Chief, watching her sleep is really not as romantic as you might think. That's creepy stalker

LOL! He used to do that with Cally, too...

I really hope that the ending doesn't let down... **fingers crossed**

I definitely agree. Obviously I want me some Kara/Lee, but from a semi-objective perspective, the writers are barraging us with certain relationships and completely ignoring others, rather than achieving that balance they used to be so good at.

See, I have this thing where I am intrigued by everyone except Tory so I'm never really disappointed when it focus on characters who are not my top favorites. In fact, I really enjoyed everything that went down between Tigh, Ellen, and Caprica. Psst... if you don't like Caprica, I'll take her :D

She's all yours. I could go on a long rant about how I think her character arc was really poorly executed by the writers, but to each her own!

To be honest my favorite six was Gina but I still adore Caprica. I'm never not intrigued by her.
