I don't know what I'm talking about

Just in general--I don't know what I'm talking about. It's occurred to me that I haven't posted anything about bsg since the week after the finale, which is odd since I still consider bsg to be my primary fandom (arguably only--I post about other shows but don't engage in particularly fannish activities). But then again, it makes sense since when the show was on hiatus I posted only a few times a month (mostly when I had fic, or something relevant to share). And I will still be posting bsg fic. I have one that's in the editing stage, one that I've just begun, and two more plottish fics (one is a Firefly crossover). But in the meantime, I'm not sure what to do bsg-wise with this journal. So, uh, I'm posting to say that I do not know what to post. Instead of writing my research paper.
No, I have another thing to talk about! Lost & Found, you know, Katee's pilot that I really, really want to see on the small screen. NBC has not announced it for the fall schedule, but there's still a chance they'll pick it up for the midseason slot. And if anyone wants to help out, there is more information at Lost & Found Online. And omg I want her hair in that picture.
Hmm, what else? Lost! I liked Lost this week, mostly. I like Richard.
I groaned inwardly when the little picture for the episode on abc.com was of Jack because I do not care about him at all. Or Kate. So, when Richard was all "I totes saw them die!" I was sort of like, "Lost, you are such a tease. Getting my hopes up like that. But you won't have the guts to follow through." And then the guy was pointing a gun at Kate, and then there was a gunshot and for many seconds I legit thought they'd just killed Kate. Imagine my disappointment when I learned the truth after the ad break. But then I was actually surprised when Kate said something that I liked--something about since when is it alright to kill kids and detonate hydrogen bombs. Because yeah, since when is that alright?
But I like Sayid so the questionable morality doesn't bother me too much. He and Hurley were the best things about this episode.
Also, I like Sawyer and Juliet but the gender dynamics were really pissing me off when the Dharma guys were beating them up. Or rather, beating up Sawyer because he can take it while they wait for Juliet to crack, and then hitting her just once to make Sawyer cave... Because Sawyer just has to be the manly man and take the abuse and protect his woman. Jack was doing it too with Kate. And I was all "Kara and Lee see each other as equals. And Chuck and Sarah are pretty much the opposite of Sawyer and Juliet." So, way to have boring, patriarchal, heteronormative gender roles, Lost. Okay, /rant.

Date: 2009-05-08 10:53 pm (UTC)Uh, that was my own take on it. Heh. But I mostly like Sawyer because I like Juliet... Sawyer has become much more tolerable to me since they became an item.

Date: 2009-05-08 11:56 pm (UTC)And I should catch up with Lost... Don't ask me why, but I stopped watching it some episodes ago... But I kind of ship Sawyer/Juliet (it is funny, I never liked Sawyer very much until he and Juliet became a couple). As for gender roles, my fave pairing as far as this issue is concerned is Kara and Lee :)

Date: 2009-05-09 01:59 pm (UTC)Silly Lost thinking we would fall for that. I forgot all about what he said until I just read it again here in your journal. We all know Lost and its shenanighans by now. Can't fool us.
He and Hurley were the best things about this episode.
They always have been. Claire too, wherever the heck she is. Hurley has been annoying me lately, but only slightly. And Sayid is still confirmed hotness. :-)

That's true! I was thinking, "Beat Juliet up too!" But then when they started I felt bad for her. She's so pretty but she's hard as nails. I knew she wouldn't have cracked. Sawyer's pretty too. You're right, though. I never worried about Kara in such situations. I worried about the other guy because that girl was crazy. "Follow me. Please." Gotta love her. :-)
I didn't know what to post either! So I just decided to do it. Just post something everyday just to get back in the habit of thinking about LJ. It was like pushing forward on a stuck fic. And for me, it was about creating a habit. And letting go of perfection. Now I've got tons of stuff to post about!

I don't think Sawyer realizes how strong she is.

Oh yes. SOOOO crazy! So much love. Hmm, I've got to post about her sometime soon.

Date: 2009-05-10 06:55 pm (UTC)I am curious to see Lost and Found. If NBC doesn't pick it up for a full season they'll test it out during the summer as a midseason show.
Looking forward to your new BSG fics.
