Pride ends up with prejudice
May. 31st, 2010 02:56 pmDay 16. Your guilty pleasure show
I thought about saying BSG, but the 'guilty' part of 'guilty pleasure' isn't that I watch the show, but the intensity with which I watch it. You know, my complete and utter geekery. But for a genuine guilty pleasure...I think I have to go with Glee. Because the writing is so uneven, and because I see the stereotypes and the tokenization and the weirdly sexist bits. I see these things, but I watch the show anyway. Come on, it's just so much fun. Plus, Kurt's dad makes me cry. And sometimes Puck sings ("Lady is a Tramp"--omg I just about died of squee).
Day 17. Favorite mini series
This was a little trickier. There were two runner-ups (runners-up?).
1. Battlestar Galactica - the miniseries is really frakking good. I think it's an excellent piece of television. But I do think of it as part of the show, which I talk about all the time. So for the sake of variety, I didn't choose BSG.
2. The animated version of Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters (on imdb). This is a really awesome adaptation from the book. I mean, it's word-for-word! And the book is absolutely hilarious. If you're a Pratchett fan, you should definitely check this out.
But for sheer fabulousness and amount of time I'vewasted spent watching it, I had to go with the BBC Pride and Prejudice miniseries. Some clips for your enjoyment:
